Fiber art and textile enthusiasts are invited to bring a bag lunch or their favorite takeout meal and enjoy this lecture and guided tour of the 19^th Annual African American Fiber Art Exhibition, Regal Threads: The Majesty of Blue and Purple, led by curator Torreah “Cookie” Washington. Cookie is a fourth-generation needleworker and nationally recognized fiber artist based in Goose Creek, SC. Her work centers African American textile traditions, ancestral memory, and environmental responsibility through art quilts, Gullah rag rugs, basketry, and sculptural textile forms. Her work has been featured in national exhibitions, museum collections, film, PBS’s Hidden Gems of Charleston, and The Saturday Evening Post. She describes her practice as craftivism—where every stitch is a prayer, a story, and a gift to the future.
