Join curator Torreah “Cookie” Washington and many of the featured artists for a public reception in honor of the 16th Annual African American Fiber Art Exhibition, Sister Girl Friends (and Brothers, Too). Inspired by the Isadora James quote, “A sister friend is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life,” this year’s theme looks to celebrate friendships between sisters (and brothers, too), both familial and those chosen along the way. The featured fiber art pieces explore the special bond between sister girlfriends and the strength that can be drawn from these cherished relationships. Cookie will make remarks and acknowledge the artists in attendance at 6:30pm. Live music provided by local jazz pianist Charles Miller. Refreshments will be served.
